Getting started

How do I start working with Elevated Ink Publishing?

Send us a few details through the contact form, WhatsApp or email: your genre, approximate word count, where the book is today and when you hope to publish. We reply with questions, a recommended route and a quote.

What should I send to get an accurate quote?

Your genre, approximate word count, where the book is today and your target publication date. A sample chapter helps for editing and formatting quotes, but it is not needed for a first conversation.

Do you work with authors in the UK and the US?

Yes. We work with authors in both countries remotely, by email, phone, WhatsApp and video call.

Can I book just one service?

Yes. Every service can be booked on its own, or combined in a package.

Can you work with a draft or cover I already have?

Yes. We start from wherever your book is today.

Writing and ghostwriting

What is a ghostwriter?

A professional writer who writes a book that is published under your name. Your ghostwriter interviews you, plans the book with you and writes it in your voice.

Will a ghostwritten book sound like me?

That is the aim. Your writer works from your recorded conversations and you review every chapter.

Who owns a ghostwritten book?

Ownership, credit and confidentiality are set out in writing in your agreement before work begins.

Can you write fiction as well as non-fiction?

Yes. Fiction is written by novelists who read and write in your genre.

Editing and proofreading

What is the difference between editing and proofreading?

Editing improves structure, clarity and style. Proofreading is the final check for errors after editing and formatting.

Which level of edit do I need?

A manuscript assessment will tell you. It recommends whether your book needs developmental work first or is ready for line and copy editing.

Will editing change my voice?

No. Every change is visible as a tracked change and you decide what stays.

Do you edit in UK or US English?

Either. We follow the spelling and style of your main readers.

Design, formatting and printing

What files will I receive for my cover?

A print-ready wrap with spine and back cover, an ebook cover and, if needed, a square audiobook cover and social media versions.

Do I need different files for print and ebook?

Yes. Print interiors are fixed-layout PDFs, while ebooks are reflowable files that adapt to each screen.

Should I print a short run or use print on demand?

Short runs suit events and signed copies. Print on demand suits online sales because books are printed as orders arrive. Many authors use both.

Publishing and marketing

Do I need a literary agent?

No. Independent publishing does not require an agent.

Where will my book be sold?

Your publishing plan lists the formats and retail platforms for your book.

Do I need an ISBN?

Each print format normally needs its own ISBN, and many ebook stores accept or require one. In the UK, ISBNs are issued by Nielsen; in the US, by Bowker. We explain the options for your book during publishing setup.

Can you guarantee sales?

No. Nobody can honestly guarantee sales. We build and run a clear plan for your book and budget.

Can you market a book that is already published?

Yes. A relaunch can include new retail copy, a campaign and sometimes a new cover.

Pricing and payments

How much does it cost to publish a book with you?

Every project is quoted individually. The price depends on word count, genre, the services you need, the formats you want and your timeline.

Are package prices fixed?

Packages are starting points. Your written quote lists exactly what is included for your book.

How do payments work?

Payment terms are set out in your proposal and agreement before work begins.

What is your refund policy?

Our refund policy is being finalised. Until it is published, the terms in your written agreement apply.
